Mobilizing Opportunities for Understanding, Non-formal education, and Transformational Activities in outdoor settings (MOUNTAIN)

2025-1-IT03-KA220-YOU-000355998
OBJECTIVES AND IDEA
The MOUNTAIN project intends to develop a pioneering training course aimed at youth workers who work/want to work actively with youth in conflict with the law in the mountains. In particular, the learning project is based on the central role played by non-formal and community-based education for the socio-educational reintegration of deviant young people (aged 15-18) at risk of marginalization. The innovativeness of the project lies not only in creating a transversal training programme, but also in proposing non-formal education activities with a restorative value in the European context, creating a unicum of its kind.
OBJETIVES:
-
1. To increase quality and innovation in the socio-educational animation sector in line with the priorities selected through the development of a new socio-educational intervention method and the recognition and validation of non-formal and informal learning in outdoor contexts (such as the mountains). This objective is in line with the priorities set out in the European agenda for socio-educational animation and the Bonn Declaration of December 2020.
The project results linked to this objective and priority are related to activities for curriculum development, programme development and trainer training. In particular, the specific activities related to this objective are:
- WP2.2: Training material for blended and multilingual learning
- WP2.3: Pathway for the validation of competences acquired in formal and informal learning contexts
- WP2.4: Training of trainers (pre-departure online lessons + experiential training of trainers and community of practice)
- WP4.4 Final events and masterclasses at local level to promote the training of new operators and expand the European collaboration network for the future sustainability of the model.
-
2. Promoting the inclusion and socio-educational reintegration of young offenders in order to offer them a chance for redemption and inclusion. This objective is linked to the second priority selected by the project and the following results:
- WP3.1 and WP3.2 will produce a document shared with all partners detailing how to implement the two pilot actions involving outdoor activities in mountain contexts at national level and in European mobility, creating a unique project at European level.
- Activity 2 of WP3 offers experiences of non-formal education, volunteering and restorative activities; WP3.4 document with guidelines for the replicability of activities.
-
3. Encouraging the active participation of young people at risk of deviance and/or deviants through volunteering, non-formal education and restorative activities in line with priority 3 identified by the project 'Common values, civic engagement and participation'. In order to achieve this project objective and related priority, ad hoc activities have been designed to involve young people in the already structured voluntary activities of P2-CAI and P5-Fedme, with a view to giving continuity to the project experience. These activities are included in WP2.3 Pilot Actions. In order to facilitate this integration, P2 and P5 will involve the youth sections of their organisations (Junior sections aged 18-30) to promote peer learning and positive role models.
